Day 149 - Pink Eye
Pink Eye

You may look at this photo and think, “Hey, that dog has a pretty human expression!” Well, it’s because of how pronounced his eye is. And that’s because of an allergic reaction Daxter had from his vaccinations today. Poor dog, he got pretty itchy. And he looked pretty silly too!

The emergency vet gave him a shot of antihistamines to help with the swelling and reaction, and he seems to be on the mend. I snapped this shot really quick while Gretchen was printing out some insurance forms for him. Tay was trying to make me feel guilty for “taking advantage” of his situation for my project365, but I’m sure he doesn’t mind.

Day 148 - Little Llama
Little Llama

Today was Memorial Day, and every year Falls Church has a Memorial Day Parade. It’s a big to-do in this small town. It’s part of what I like so much about Falls Church. We’re 15 minutes from our nation’s capital, and you can’t tell where our town ends and Arlington begins, however we still have all these neat community events which really brings a small-town feel to it.

Anyway, every year in the parade there are a bunch of Bolivian dance troupes, and I always feel so bad for them because they’re dressed up in such elaborate garb which must be hot as all hell. But then you have a day like today where the heat was just so oppressive! Those poor people must’ve been dying. Like this kid, who had to take a knee in the middle of the performance to collect himself. He must have been so hot. And the Llama on his head probably didn’t help.

Karen & Anthony

Karen & Anthony is a couple we just booked for a wedding in September, and as part of their package we did an engagement shoot. They coincidentally got engaged at Great Falls Park in Virginia (just like Beppe!) so we went back there at the crack of dawn (not really, more like 7 AM) to get some shots. It wasn’t as chilly as it was just one month ago when we took Beppe’s photos. It was nice having the previous experience at that location though, I was able to get similar shots…

See?

Anyway, it was a great shoot I thought. I took out my flash this time plus my umbrella set up. Taylor was along to help me out, and I know I would not have been able to manage half of these shots without her there to assist.

And after some trial and error I also was able to get some very nicely balanced photos with the flash.

We then struck out to find the place that the proposal actually took place, but we got sidetracked and never actually made it there! First was this tree that caught my eye because of how the light was hitting the branches and cascading down.

The last place I got distracted was these series of flat-ish rocks where I had them lay down next to each other, which is where I snapped my pic-o-the-day. Here are a couple extras:

All in all, a good shoot! I’m definitely looking forward to their wedding in September (incidentally only a week after Beppe’s!)

Day 145 - Grill 'em All
Grill ‘em All

Meat. Yum.

It was really nice weather today also, right up until it was time to grill the ribs! Then it was like, super crazy apocalyptic lightning storm. So, what was supposed to be an outdoor grill out turned into an indoor meal.

Oh well.
